Who we are
Our story began in 2021, neither of us were looking hard for a relationship, but we were each on Match.com and were both going to delete our accounts because “The odds are good, but the goods are odd”. That is doubly true up here in Alaska!
For some amazing reason she showed up in my feed and I said to myself “This will be the last try and if this does not work out, then I’m done". Needless to say, she replied to my wink and reluctantly accepted my invention to breakfast, as she was done and about to delete her account. She thought, “Well I have to eat before my 4-and-a-half-hour drive for work that day, at least I will get a meal out of it.”
The breakfast date went great! We kept eye contact, both talked and listened to each other and could not stop laughing. Things were right and good with the world so, as we walked out with my arm around her, I reached around a planted a kiss on her. A surprise to both and left her thinking, “What the f??” But we didn’t miss a beat, still walking with my arm around her, still talking and laughing at each other. I walked her to her car and opened the door for her…what the heck??…
During the first week we both decided to delete those Match.com accounts. We love to take adventures together. From picnics, the Zoo, then to Denali National Park and many other places all within the first three months.
On the first trip to Denali, we stopped at a pull off and decided to walk along the edge of the Nenana River. As we were walking, she looked down and saw the HEART rock that you see above. This HEART is inside this rock, it’s not painted or artificially put in the rock, it’s a natural. She said that her ancestors always put heart rocks in her path when they are watching over her and letting her know that this is the right path and things are good. And she still finds HEART rocks in our surroundings today.
After three months I say, “Let’s try an experiment!” and that experiment was to move in to together!” Into her 500 square foot Tiny Home. At six months we were buying a log cabin together and then a new vehicle.
During the next two years, we adopted two dogs from a local recue, remodeled the cabin, she built four amazing barndoors since she couldn’t find any she liked and we completely updated and renovated the inside and outside of our beautiful cabin. During that time there were small adventures taken. Trips to Homer, Fairbanks, Seward, Kodiak Island and several trips to our favorite, Denali National Park, several trips back east to see family and friends and many, many others!
At around the two and half year mark, on a trip to NC and FL to see family and friends, I PROPOSED AND SHE SAID YES!!
Now, at a little over the 3-year mark, the cabin is sold, and the NEW ADVENTURE begins ……Full Time Living in an RV…..with two DOGS and two CATS.
To travel while we can, be with the grandbabies as much as possible, and to help my parents in their time of need.
To keep up with our ongoing experiment(lol), our travels, our adventures-good, bad, hysterical, or otherwise, our wedding plans and our anything but boring lives, click on our journal.
Because she LOVES to say…"I wonder where THAT road goes!” (as she drags me down that road!) so, we are going to see where those roads go!
